Where the data comes from
Post office names, PIN codes, office types, delivery status, postal circles, regions, divisions, districts, states and coordinates come from India Post's All India Pincode Directory, published as open government data. The current listings are based on the edition we downloaded on 13 October 2026. India Post updates its directory from time to time, so a recent change may not appear here yet.
About the DIGIPINs
DIGIPIN is a system created by India Post. We calculate each DIGIPIN from latitude and longitude using the method India Post publishes, so the code is only as accurate as the location behind it:
- A post office's DIGIPIN comes from the coordinates in India Post's file. We drop coordinates we can't trust, but some that remain may still be off.
- Post offices marked "approximate location" have an estimated position from the other offices with the same PIN code. They don't get a DIGIPIN.
- Some post offices have no location at all, and so no DIGIPIN.
- A post office's DIGIPIN is not your home's. For your own DIGIPIN, use the converter at your door.
PIN codes and district names
District and state names follow India Post's file, which can differ from the latest administrative boundaries. A PIN code can span more than one district; when it does, each district's page lists its own post offices and links to the others.
For official use
